Get to know us...
Our company is based out of the Cwt Y Bugail quarry in the picturesque mountains of North Wales. We specialise in the use of slate to create beautiful and durable kitchen worktops which overflow with character and style. Quarried and processed at source, the slate is widely regarded as the finest, dark blue grey slate available in the U.K.
We create every kitchen worktop individually cut to measure. This process enables us to provide completely bespoke kitchen tops to our customers. Each kitchen worktop is fitted by our specialist installation team.
For inspiration and examples of slate worktops for your kitchen project, please visit our galleries for examples of our work. Contact us today and we will be happy to discuss your design and requirements with you every step through to fruition.
We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality slate products underpinned by first class service.

Kitchen Worktop Facts :
1. Durability - Will it scratch or mark?
Slate is unique as a surface, it will mark and scratch like most materials, wood being a closest example. Unlike wood, you can remove the scratches and marks with ease, and then re-moisture/stain seal. What you will find though is that through general cleaning it is difficult to notice any marks that have been made, but as we say, they are removable. Welsh Slate is not as hard as Granite, more of a matt finish. Welsh Slate has natural markings which makes it unique. Welsh Slate will last a lifetime and beyond.
2. Will it stain?
All of our worksurfaces are finished with a stain and moisture sealant which protects against food stuffs. This will last for around 5 years and can then be easily re-applied. The natural colour of our slate is darkened using this technique as you can see in all of the images.
3. Will it take heat?
Yes it will, again unlike wood you can leave a boiling hot pan on the surface and it will not mark.
4. Who will make my templates and fit the worktops?
We will arrange for all of this to be completed, taking the worry out of fitting and delivery.
5. Why make a template?
Not all walls are square, and all kitchens are individual, which is why when it comes to fitting the last thing you want to hear "I hope it fits". So by making a template we know that every worktop will fit correctly.
6. How long will it take?
That really depends on how busy we are with our customers, as soon as you send us a drawing we should be able to let you know delivery times. Usually 14 days.
7. How do they look?
When you enter the room it is certainly a conversation piece that adds real character. A real WOW factor!
8. Finally...
Kitchen Worktops from The Slate Worktop Company are just one of the many items that are custom created at The Slate Worktop Company in the beautiful valleys of South Wales. All of our worktops are made from 100% Welsh Blue-Black Slate and really do add that WOW factor to any kitchen!
Please either email or send us a copy of your drawing where we will be pleased to quote you for delivery and installation. Don't worry, your drawing can be rough, once received we will contact you to go through the finer details.
