Templating is the first stage of our journey to your home...
Once complete we return to our workshops to replicate the template into a solid slate work surface.
It is crucial at this stage that a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail has been completed.
That's why we only use our own in house template and fit team.
There are many, many points during installation that could go wrong if not properly managed.
Trained in the art of templating one of the great services which makes the Cwt-Y-Bugail slate
worktops unique is our own in house professional template and fitting team.
Making sure the overhangs and joins (if any) are in the correct places to allow for support.
Critical points of the sink and the hob cut outs also allowing for the correct radius' on open corners.
All of which and more are taken care of by our experienced templating team, who will also assess
access and feasibility of fitting a solid slate piece into an angled position.
On producing a plastic copy of your work surface we know that all details including overhangs for sinks are
exact, and it is at this stage that we make sure that any radius needed for corners can also be included.
Using the latest technology in clamping systems we are able to cut sink and hob apertures without loosing
the strength in the slab when fitting. (see gallery) The major benefit to our customers is less joins.

Delivered by the experts...
Delivery is included in the tempalting and fitting charge. However, we are able to send out individual pieces via a double pallet.
NOTE : Please be aware that opting for pallet delivery does require a flat hard standing area to off-load.
We take great care in the transportation of you new work surface by investing heavily in the correct lifting and logistical equipment.

Once the surface of the slate is finished, the subtle diagonal veining becomes accentuated and shines through along with shiny gold marks and stronger veins that are unique fingerprints of Cwt Y Bugail slate, placing it a cut above the rest.
Our material is specified for aesthetic qualities, performance characteristics, low maintenance and durability. The slate has extremely low water absorption rates and is unaffected by ultra violet light and acid immersion.

The worlds finest slate...
Welsh slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low grade regional metamorphism. The result is a foliated rock in which the foliation may not correspond to the original sedimentary layering. Slate is frequently grey in colour especially when seen en masse covering roofs. However, slate occurs in a variety of colours even from a single locality. For example slate from North Wales can be found in many shades of grey from pale to dark and may also be purple, green or cyan. Slate is not to be confused with shale, from which it may be formed, or schist.
Slate is mainly composed of quartz and muscovite or illite, often along with biotite, chlorite, hematite, and pyrite along with, less frequently, apatite, graphite, kaolin, magnetite, tourmaline, or zircon as well as feldspar. Occasionally, as in the purple slates of North Wales, ferrous reduction spheres form around iron nuclei, leaving a light green spotted texture. These spheres are sometimes deformed by a subsequent applied stress field to ovoids, which appear as ellipses when viewed on a cleavage plane of the specimen.
